The Fullerton Hotel

The Fullerton Hotel used to be a fort defending Singapore against naval attacks, but was repurposed as the General Post Office after WW2. Now, it has been rejuvenated as a luxury hotel featuring countless posh bars, but remnants of its history as a post office remain in the form of traditional letterboxes.

Cavenagh Bridge

Completed in 1869, Cavenagh Bridge was one of the first suspension bridges in Southeast Asia, allowing rickshaws and ox carts to cross the Singapore River near to its mouth. The riverbank used to be packed with ice-cream uncles peddling local favourites for decades, but now only a couple remain. Catch them while you still can - their numbers are dwindling!

Raffles Place Station

Raffles Place MRT opened in 1987 as part of the very first opening phase of the MRT system. It features station exits with traditional European style elements, together with rare unrefurbished directional signages which are now rapidly being phased out. Are you a horror fan? Try taking a walk through its old-fashioned, dimly-lit and eerie underpasses!

Pampering Your Tastebuds

Built in 1984, the Chong Pang Market and Food Centre, home to some 50 food stalls, is very well known for its countless dining options and inexpensive meals. No matter the time of the day, it is always filled with people looking to satisfy their tastebuds. One of the more popular food stalls in the hawker centre is a food stall named Pin Xiang (right picture). Its popular dishes are the Fried Carrot Cake and the Singapore and Penang style Char Kuay Teow. Being the winner of People's Choice under the Local Food Category for City Hawker Food Hunt 2018, it is certainly a testament to the high quality of their dishes.
