bras basah

Located in Bugis, Bras Basah Complex is iconic in Singapore's city centre. Encompassing a block of flats and a sprawling shopping hub with many stores, it is a timeless icon of Singapore that reminds us of Singapore's past.

Of course, Bras Basah Complex is inseperable from books. There are many bookstores that have been in operation since the 1980s. Some even sell books which were published around that time!

Second-hand clocks, old DVDs and Chinese caligraphy brush sets are all sold by various merchants in this shopping complex! Bras Basah is full of life, with the young and old all paying a visit to look at the many wares available for purchase.

A Trip Down the Memory Lane

description:

The advancement of technology has introduced a new form of fun for children in the 21st Century, in the form of various electronic devices. But, for many generations of children, us included, other forms of entertaining toys have kept us company in our spare time.
Let's have a look at these toys, shall we?

Pick-up Sticks

Easy to play and a childhood favourite, pick-up sticks helped us forge stronger bonds with family and friends.

Snakes and Ladders

Snakes and Ladders is a classic childhood game that is still exhilarating to play. We often rejoiced when 'climbing' the ladder and sighed when we slid down the snake.

Origami

Origami may have originated from Japan, but it is something all of us have folded, successfully or unsuccessfully!

Chapteh

Most of us have played with Chapteh during Racial Harmony Day, but they have been a staple toy for generations. Our great-grandparents likely played with them as well.

Paper Balls

These paper balls were never far away from a playground, a void deck, or the hands of a group of excited children ready to have fun easy to inflate and deflate, this has to be part fo our favourite memories of our childhood.
